How does one secretly ruin a PS3?

Now, i know this isnt really something that normally one would suggest doing, but in this instance its warranted. Very warranted.

A very close friend of mine was victim of a really, really, really vile act by her ex bf last night, who shes stuck living with at the moment, but moving out saturday. Anyway, he did something last night which needs to be punished. She was thinking of putting glass in his bike tire, throwing his work keys in the garbage or something.. all of which are fine and all, but i think if she could find some way to secretly ruin his ps3 without leaving any tell tale marks on the outside, that would be the best.

i was wondering if maybe theres some way to scratch up the laser.. steel wool perhaps? the trick would be how to get it in and out without leaving any marks on the outside of the console, or any bits of steel wool in the console.

If anyone has any suggestions for how to extract vengance, that someone with little to no tech skills can do, please, let me know, it would be appreciated.

Tape up the exhausts, turn it on for a few hours in a confined space then remove the tape and put it back. Internals should be melted bad.

Magnetize the hard drive first to be sure. It's easy to remove.

I will say this is fucked up though. I feel bad even explaining this.

Yeah, if the guy is capable of being dangerous to her I'd have to agree with Wraith. It's just not worth it. Slash his tires in a month or so once she's away from him if need be, but this seems ill advised at best.

The towel around it and leaving it running would make it look like an accidental death. Formatting the HDD would leave it blank and easy to tell it was an inside job.

Corrupting it would have the same effect but look accidental. So a massive magnet on it would be grand.

thinking about it, the magnet seems like the most plausible idea, however if the guy has any sense about him, he could just replace the HDD (assuming the magnet didn't mess with any of the circuits inside). If you wanted to mess with the laser without leaving any exterior marks, may i suggest a small pipe cleaner or bottle brush? I'm sure that would do the trick.

Exactly. Plus, it makes it very hard to get a restraining order if need be, and that can be critical. I've seen that sort of thing play out, and it's really best not to fuck with this guy, or even initiate communications with him. Just leave, seek therapy/police action/restraining order as necessary, and move on. It's not the most satisfying option, I know, but from the experience I've had, it is the wisest.

Even the dumbest piece of shit on the planet involved in some kind of bad roommate situation will consider the person moving out as the cause of something that is all of a sudden fucked up shortly after they're gone.

The best advice here is to just drop this line of thinking and get your friend out of there as fast as possible. You already believe that if you or your friend do something he'll enact his own retribution in kind. If you were to do this it would be possible he could try to do so legally. Just get your friend out and involve the authorities to whatever extent is needed.
