Ok, so I'm a bit late with this one, but I figured I might share with you guys a few things I've been working on, as far as writing goes.

See, other than the lovely (boring) day job I've been blessed with, I like to entertain delusions of being something of a comic writer. I can't draw worth a ANYTHING but I do like to think I can come up with some decent writings.

I live in Edmonton, Alberta and a bunch of local artists and writers got together to produce a small ashcan giveaway for Free Comic Book Day this last may. I was one of the featured stories and I figured I'd share it with you guys for the hell of it. I didn't draw it at all, so don't critique it on that

Now, we got a lot of good feedback, and several of us are working on ANOTHER anthology (only this time we're going to sell it and try and make this an ongoing thing, bi-annually or quarterly if we get enough participation) and I've got a second story in the works that is vastly different than the first. I'm only going to post the first two pages, but eventually I'll post the rest after it's published in Mid-August (Since I doubt you guys can run out and buy it if you even wanted to ;)).

And finally, my foray into webcomics back in 2003. I miss doing webcomics, and I've taken the original idea my friend and I had (I went through two artists oddly enough...both were a bit...flaky.) and have been re-working it a bit into something more concrete and solid in terms of storytelling. But still, I think this one strip is probably my finest work:

I'd love feedback, just remember I didn't draw any of these, just wrote em :p

EDIT: Posted this in the wrong damn place...lmao. It should be moved soon.

The gaming comic is good. My only suggestions would to have your artist, beg, borrow or whore himself out to Guatemalan mafiosos for a copy of Illustrator and a WACOM. (He seems to have Photoshop in spades)

The other one...I feel like I jumped in mid-stream. I didn't really know what was going on. Mr. Piddles gave me a chuckle, though. :)

The gaming comic...I don't even know what ever happened to the artist. He and I met on an illustration website back in 2003, and after a few months of doing comics, he told me he got an animation job and I never heard from him again.

The first one, you're supposed to kinda not know what's going on until the end. Basically, it's kids playing in a sandbox, sort of like those Calvin and Hobbes comics :p

Courtesy Bump. :)

Sorry, I caught your thread while I was posting art up to my thread. I sent you a PM about the comic as well.

Ah, I didn't quite understand the war one either. However, I liked the video game one and I'm actually a little interested as to where Roasted Almonds goes.

The video game one doesn't do anything for me, but the other two are quite entertaining. Maybe I just don't do video game humor very well. It's true that PA tends to fall flat for me, although less often than all the other gaming comics floating around.

The odd thing is, the gaming one was thrown into a comic about guys who run a comic shop. I've got others, but I think that was probably my best joke.

The war one, I've gotten mixed results on that one...some people don't really get it, thinking there's more to it, and others find it too simplistic. Overall, I'm not -entirely- happy with that one, but I suppose it all depends on how it goes.

As for the Redgrave-Blake one (Almonds) I'm talking with the artist about expanding it. Once we've got it finished and in the next anthology, I'll post the remaining pages and let you guys know how it all goes.

Like them both, moreso the gaming one. The girl in the last page, middle panel lost her boobs somehow... that was a downer.

LMAO Wilkz07...I dunno if that was a joke...

But the idea was they were kids playing pretend. At the end is the reveal that is was just two kids in a sandbox, with the one (the Sgt.) being a dick to the little girl, ending up breaking her dollhouse, and she threw a toy car at his head. Then her dog peed on him.

Now that I've explained it, the joke is dead :p

I liked the war one. It's something that you have to read a second time after you get the reveal at the end for everything to really make sense.
